European Parliament Elections – Voting in the UK

4 Jun

This morning my friend Giles went to his neighborhood polling station so he can cast his vote for a UK representative for European Parliament. Curious, I tagged along with him to learn a little bit more about their elections and the voting process. Interestingly enough, the voting process wasn’t too dissimilar from that in the [...]

Haggling for a Gorrillapod in Rome

30 May

During an off day from work, me and a few mates had a look around Rome as they set up for the final stage of the Giro d’Italia. We spotted a few street vendors and Adrian decided he needed a tripod for his camera. At first he wanted the compact tripod that looked exactly like [...]

Room with a view (a Tarmac View). Rad!(-isson)

26 May

I’ve heard of Ocean Views, Mountain Views, and Garden Views.  But “Terminal” or “Tarmac” views?  I don’t think they call them that, but literally I had a view of the terminal from my hotel room at the Radisson at the London-Stansted Airport.   Besides the fact that they were RyanAir planes parked right outside my window [...]

The RyanAir Experience – Part I

25 May

I had been told (more like warned!) by many travelers about flying RyanAir, the low cost airline that flies routes in Europe starting a 1 Euro, and sometimes even for 0! The catch is they charge you for almost everything – baggage, drinks, and even for certain check in processes that would otherwise be free [...]

The SNCF/TGV Announcement Tone

27 Apr

During my visit in Paris, I spent more time than I will say at the Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), not only for my own travel but picking up guests for Cervelo Test Team Travel. At the Gare (train station) in Terminal 2 I’d hear this little jingle before each announcement. It’s a tone you’ll [...]

Surfing Bondi

10 Mar

Ok, I admit, I’m not a rippin’ surfer by any means.  I did learn to surf ages ago back in high school and then surfed a bit in Santa Barbara in college but I wasn’t a total diehard.   I was told Bondi was a must do experience while in Oz. After all the talk of [...]

The Tourist Thing in Sydney Harbor

10 Mar

With only a couple days in Sydney I decided to head straight to Sydney Harbor and do the most touristy things in Sydney: see the harbor (Opera House, bridge, etc) and go to the Aquarium and Wildlife Park.

I took a quick stroll around the Opera House without going inside and after taking in the sun for a bit and deciding the bridge walk wasn’t really worth it, I grabbed a drink boarded a ferry to head to Darling Harbor to check out the Wildlife Park and Aquarium.

A little behind…

10 Mar

My Internet access has been pretty minimal my whole trip and especially hustling and bustling from place to place and trying to maximize my experiences and fun in Australia and New Zealand that I’ve had few opportunities to just chill and post. Today happens to be a rainy day and I’ve got a good connection [...]
